Another lovely morning for golf, lets hope these conditions continue, as it will certainly shorten the winter for us all. Our Presidents prize winner did it again, congratulations to Eoin Hamill, his 33pts was the best score this morning, just one clear from Eric Mather. Well done lads, it was a smallish field as the late rugby start this Saturday had an influence on our numbers. Next weeks match is a bit earlier so hopefully we will have a good turnout.

Congratulations Eamonn and on behalf of all the members a very Big Thank You. What lovely original prizes you put up again this year, thank you.

We lost some daylight time this morning and with the green keepers out before us we were delayed until 8am to get going. There was the usual great turnout for our Presidents Prize. Unfortunately we were not able to accommodate some late bookings. Sorry about that lads. We had the most perfect day for golf in honour of Eamonn Cox our President. And some very good scores were returned. The Longest Drive was won by new member Jamie O Toole with a fantastic drive down 18 and Nearest the pin on the 2nd was won by Niall Crowley. Very well done lads. 3rd prize was won by Charlie Nolan with 35pts including a few blank holes. 2nd prize was won by Gavin Morris. Its the third time Gavin has lost out with 41pts. Congratulations to Michael Moffat on one of his last outings as a member as promotion in his job is our loss but his gain. He is and was a great supporter of the club and will be sadly missed. Michael moves to the west on a permanent basis in a few weeks and what a way to finish. His 36pts won todays competition and also cost him a shot but we wish him the very best of luck. Well done again Michael. Close on his heals came the Murphy boys (not related) with Barry and David each returning 35pts. Paul Courtney was only one back on 34pts. Very well played lads.

Happy Easter to You and your Family. The Easter celebrations and inclement weather conditions had their effect on numbers this morning which is very understandable. On his second time out this year and under tough conditions, our congratulations go to Finbarr Maguire who brought home the best score of the day, having 33pts. Well done Finbarr. The other notable event was that Bruce Curtis had a two on the 8th. Well done Bruce. Its that time of year again when Brendan is off to the Masters and the office closes for almost two weeks. We spoke a bit too soon last week with the weather. Not alone did the frost give us a late start today but we also postponed the start of our Golfer of the Year Competition as four of the holes were closed and the 10th is been played as a par three. This is all because of the persistent rain we have had since November. On the bright side, work on the course is progressing nicely and it wont be long before course is back playing to its five star quality. Patience is a virture. But as a result we are planning an away day for our members next Sunday. So we need to know by Tuesday the names of players wanting to play next Sunday. Contact Brendan and we hope to have further details available to you during the week. Next Competition Sunday 13th March

Back playing at last without having to gear up for rain, there is a lot of work taking place on the course just now in preparation for the new season. Your understanding and patience during this time is very much appreciated, as golf courses require annual maintenance for the betterment of the golf course for our peak golfing season. Another Non Counting competition this morning to help get rid of some cobwebs. Congratulations to Michael Costello playing off 12 returned a very good score of 35pts to take home this weeks prize. His playing partner Paul Courtney was next having 33pts followed by our President Eamonn Cox with 32pts. Well done lads under the conditions. Next week our Time Sheet starts at 7-30 for the first round in our Golfer of the Year competition, which reminds me, last years winner Bruce Curtis is waiting for the trophy to be returned so he can proudly have it on display. We would like to welcome Roy McKeown who joined us recently. Let your friends know, now is the time to get their applications in before the new season starts.

At last there is a great stretch in daylight hours and we are expecting much improvement in weather conditions for next week and no Rugby International match is scheduled. With only a few weeks to the first round in our Golfer of the year competition kicking off, its time to get the clubs out, brush off the cobwebs and get some practise rounds in. Remember or Captain and Vice-Captain are looking at players to make up our Inter Club teams. Why not try to use whatsapp to persuade another member to make up your three-ball? Of course, booking through the ususal method with Brendan still applies. As you can see next weeks competition starts at 7-45am. Please book your slot early to avoid disappointment.

The forecast was not as bad as expected this morning, we did however have some wind to contend with. Conditions were soft underfoot but the greens were in perfect condition. It was our President Eamonn Cox who came out on top in todays non counting round with 34 points, well played Eamonn. Next week sees the start of the Rugby international matches, where Ireland play Wales at home on Sunday afternoon, We strongly suggest you book your tee time before next Thursday to make sure you get an allotted tee time, to ensure you finish in good time prior to the game. Our New Captain Kevin Arundel, started his year with a perfect drive straight down the middle of the first fairway. Congratulations Kevin, we have no doubt your impact on the club will be as spectacular as your drive-in. Kevin has some very exciting and forward thinking ideas on how to develop our club which he hopes to initiate during his year. He started off by inviting Michael Martin to be our vice-captain which was an inspired choice. The rest of his plans for the club will be announced shortly. My advice on behalf of our members, is enjoy yourself Kevin.
On the links section on our web site, members or sponsors can have their Company or Brand featured, please send me the details if you would like to include your brand.
At last we got the opportunity to hold last years Presidents Prize (Eamonn Cox). A dry morning for a change plus a mild one, made it most enjoyable. The course was still very soft in places as you might expect but in fine condition. Congratulations to Mick Leahy who get his name on the Presidents Cup for the second time, his second nine was just that little bit better than Michael Moffat. Both finished on 35pts which was a terrific score under the conditions. Mick Smith was next best having 33pts. The longest drive on the 18th was won by last years captain Eric Mather. Our President himself nearly got into the prizes as he finished fourth. Well played lads at least we are off and running for the new year.

I have no doubt all will be pleased to hear, not only was the course open today but it was in terrific condition despite all that rain and frost. The greens were in first class order and very few balls, if any, were lost on the fairways. We did not hold a competition expecting the worst which was a pity, as Conor Walsh had a fine score of 37pts followed by our president Eamonn Cox who finished on 34pts with new member Alex Cordero only one shot back on 33pts. With a much better forecast for the coming week, our Captains Drive-In (Kevin Arundel) and the carried forward Presidents Prize (Eamonn Cox) will take place. We are expecting numbers to be very strong for what should be great morning. Book your tee Time early.
